2002/2003 Points Series Regattas - Notice of Race
Notice is hereby given that the SA Sailing (Western Cape) Points Series Regattas will be sailed on the dates and venues indicated below -

Organising Authority:
South African Sailing (Western Cape) in collaboration with the Host Club at the venue.
Eligible Classes:
All classes recognised as members of SAS (WC)
Rules:
Ø All races will be sailed under the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) Racing Rules of Sailing 2001 - 2004 (RRS), the relevant Class Rules, and the Sailing Instructions.
Ø Every owner and skipper of a boat entered in the regatta shall be a member in good standing of a yacht club affiliated to South African Sailing and a member in good standing of the relevant Class Association.
Ø Every crewmember other than the skipper shall be a member in good standing of a yacht club affiliated to South African Sailing. Alternatively, a crewmember other than the skipper may pay a temporary South African Sailing membership fee for the duration of the regatta of R30.00, to the Regatta Secretary for submission to South African Sailing.
Ø Each boat entered shall have a valid class Registration or Measurement Certificate issued by South African Sailing.
Advertising:
Ø The event has been classified as a Category C event in terms of RRS Appendix 1 Regulation 20, which shall only apply when racing
Ø Advertising of a company or a product, which at the sole discretion of the Organising Committee, is in direct or indirect competition with a sponsoring company or any sponsor's product marketed by them, shall not be permitted
Program:
The first race will not start before 14.00 on the first day of each event. Starting time of subsequent race will be posted on the regatta Notice Board, except if the Finishing vessel is flying flag "L" it will indicate the next race is about to start and competitors should remain in the vicinity of the Start. The final program may be issued by the host Club prior to each regatta.
Entries:
A minimum of five valid entries and finishers in any one race is required for a valid regatta in a class. Entries, on the official entry form, accompanied by the relevant entry fee, must be submitted to the host Club Regatta Secretary at least one hour before the start of the first race of each regatta.
Sailing Instructions:
Sailing Instructions will be available from the Regatta Secretary at the venue at least one hour before the first start.
Regatta Scoring:
Ø RRS A4, Low Point System will apply
Ø If more than 4 races are sailed one discard will be permitted. . If more than 9 races are sailed two discards will be allowed.
Points Series Overall Results:
Points, weighted in accordance with each regatta's fleet size, will be awarded in accordance with each boat's finishing place at each regatta. The result of one regatta will be discarded if more than three have been sailed. A regatta where there was no valid race will not be taken into account in obtaining these results.
Prize Giving:
The times of prize giving and the prizes to be awarded will be indicated in the relevant Sailing Instructions.
