FROSTBITE REGATTA 2003

Notice of Regatta

Class: All Recognised Dinghy Classes
Organising Authority: University of Cape Town Yacht Club
Venue: UCTYC, Zeekoevlei
Dates: 2nd & 3rd August 2003

1 NOTICE:
Notice is hereby given that the University of Cape Town Frostbite Regatta for SASWC-recognised Dinghy Classes will be sailed at Zeekoevlei on 2nd & 3rd August 2003.

2 RULES:
2.1 All races will be sailed under the International Sailing Federation Racing Rules of Sailing 2001-2004 (RRS), the relevant Class Rules, and the Sailing Instructions.
2.2 Every owner and skipper of a boat entered in the regatta shall be a member in good standing of a yacht club affiliated to South African Sailing and a member in good standing of the relevant Class Association.
2.3 Every crewmember other than the skipper shall be a member in good standing of a yacht club affiliated to South African Sailing. Alternatively, a crewmember other than the skipper may pay a temporary South African Sailing membership fee for the duration of the regatta of R30.00, to the Regatta Secretary for submission to South African Sailing.
2.4 Each boat entered shall have a valid class Registration or Measurement Certificate issued by South African Sailing.
2.5 A Class shall be considered to be a minimum of five (5) finishers in any one particular race.

3 ADVERTISING:
3.1 The event has been classified as a Category C event in terms of RRS Appendix 1 Regulation 20, which shall only apply when racing.
3.2 Advertising of a company or a product, which at the sole discretion of the Organising Committee, is in direct or indirect competition with a sponsoring company or any sponsor's product marketed by them, shall not be permitted.

4 PROGRAMME:
4.1 Registration will take place from 09h00 on the 2nd of August.
4.2 The first race will not commence before 13h00.
4.3 A maximum of seven races will be sailed. A minimum of three races is required for the regatta.
4.4 If more than four races are sailed, one discard will be applied.
4.5 The last race will not start after 15h30 on the 3rd of August.

5 ENTRIES:
5.1 The regatta secretary will accept entries throughout the weekend.
5.2 Entry fees for youth classes shall be R15, senior classes R25 and students R10.

6 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS:
Sailing Instructions will be available from the Regatta Secretary's Office on registration.

7 SCORING:
The Low Point Scoring System as set out in RRS A4 will apply.

8 PRIZES:
8.1 Prizes may be awarded at the discretion of the Organizing Committee.

9 LIABILITY:
The attention of the competitors is drawn to the fact that participation in the contest is entirely at their own risk and no responsibility for damage or injury from this will rest with the Organizing Authority, the Class Association or any person running the event.
