20 May 2002

Sunday's Rose Bowl Series for Keelers took place in the most beautiful conditions. Durban provided a classic winters day with absolutely no wind early on. A clear sunny sky kept the temperature up and as flat a sea as you ever get off Durban meant that bobbing around waiting for the wind was not at all unpleasant. When the breeze did come through, an hour or so after the fleet got out onto the water, it came in the form of a pleasant six to eight knots from the east allowing race officer Neil Cramb to get in two good windward leeward races. With the L26 fleet slightly diminished with only four boats on the water it was at least pleasing to see the two Dragonfly's taking part. The racing in the L26 fleet was close as ever with the four boats never getting far apart from one another and the fleet always seemed to be tightly bunched at the mark roundings.

All in all it was a fantastic day out on the water. The results of the two races sailed and the series overall are as follows:

Yacht Race 1 Race 2 Total Points Position
L26
Ocean Sailing Academy 2 1 3 1st
Galactica 1 3 4 2nd
Fusion 4 2 6 3rd
Harken 3 4 7 4th
Dragonfly
Magic Dragon 1 1 2 1st
Take One 2 2 4 2nd
