The RNYC's Windhoek Regatta which took place in Durban this weekend was a great success with 14 teams taking part. Having a heavy emphasis on the social aspect it was to be expected that the parties would be good and true to form they were. The sailing was market by light winds throughout the weekend which meant that the sailing never really got out of hand for any of the more social sailors involved. The fleet was fairly varied ranging from a Holiday 23 at one end of the scale to two Fast 42's and the new Leisure 42 at the other end. While they might not have competed so equally on the water the playing field was certainly more level off it where I notice that the smaller boats seemed to make a big impact, especially on the poitjie competition. This was not however enough to overcome the might of the big boats who performed well on the water with overall victory in the regatta going to Chris Frost's Fast 42 Prodigy. The results of the regatta in the various categories and competitions were as follows:
RACING CASS
CRUISING CLASS
CARNIVAL COMPETITION
CRYPTIC COMPETITION
POTJIE COMPETITION
UNDER 30 FOOT
OVERALL WINNER
