Sunday's RC Laser Warm-Up Regatta was an entertaining affair sailed in perfect RCL conditions down at the pond. Eighteen sailors turned out to get in some final practice before the Nationals which take place in two weeks time, on the 2d and 3rd of November.

Don't forget that the official Notice of Race is available on the Smooth Sailing Notices of Race page at www.smoothsailing.co.za/rclnatnor.html.

Back to the racing and with such a big fleet and a relatively small start line the order of the day was staying out of trouble, although, as is so often the case in this fleet, trouble often finds you! A clean start and no collisions invariably meant a good race. Luckily when the nationals are sailed there will be strict judging and smaller fleets, which will, with any luck, keep the racing a whole lot cleaner.

Ten races were sailed in a pleasant northeasterly breeze, which almost got too strong by the end of the tenth race. It was all a lot of fun and I for one can't wait for the Nationals to begin!

The results of yesterday's regatta were as follows:

1st Norrie Taylor 9 Points
2nd Terry Flynn 25
3rd Dave Rushton 34
4th Ernie Shaw 46
5th James Magennis 53

The full results should be available on the RC Laser web site at www.angelfire.com/hi5/rclaser_world.
