25 July 2005 Hi from a picturesque St Moritz Switzerland, where the 2005 Optimist Worlds are to take place. We have arrived early to acclimatize and get a feel for conditions on the water. The team is in high spirits and are looking forward to this event. Taariq Jacobs, Andrew Collier, Brevan Thompson, Matthew Shaw and Chris Gough have put a great effort in to preparing for this event since their selection in April 2005. This event is unique in that no coach is allowed on the water - bicycle hire is provided to the coach to ride around the lake. All their training has been to get them to work together as a team on and off the water, preparing before the regatta and each race. Both parents and team have spent some valuable time at the Sports Science Institute with preparation and Visualization techniques, as a team they are mentally and physically prepared for this event. We will be bringing you daily updates on the progress of the team once the event starts on 27th July 2005. Cheers for now from:
