NOTICE OF RACE

Venue : Pretoria Sailing Club

1 RULES:
1.1 The regatta will be governed by 'rules' as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.
1.2 CHANGE OF CREW: Rule 42 of the NSA Bye-laws shall apply:
1.2.1 The Helmsman, as entered on the entry form, may not change after the start of the first race of the Championship
1.2.2 Permission to change crew (other than the helmsman) is required in writing stating the full reason for the change. One crew change may be allowed at the discretion of the race committee

2 ELIGIBILITY:
2.1 Every Helmsman and crew of a yacht entered in the regatta shall be a member in good standing of a yacht club affiliated to South African Sailing.
2.2 Helmsman and crew will be required to show valid Club Membership cards at registration.
2.3 The Helmsman of a yacht entered in the regatta shall be a member in good standing of the appropriate Class Association. The Crew shall be a member in good standing of the appropriate Class Association if required by the Class rules.
2.4 Each yacht entered shall have a valid class measurement or registration certificate issued or recognised by South African Sailing.
2.5 All such membership fees shall be payable before the start of the 1st race. Where races are sailed without payment, the payment of the said fees, the results shall be discounted

3 PROGRAM:
3.1 Registration will take place at the race office from 09:30 on Saturday 9 August 2003.
3.2 A competitors' briefing will be held at 10:00 on Saturday 9 August 2003
3.3 The warning signal time of the first race 10:30 on Saturday 9 August 2003
3.4 The warning signal times for succeeding races will be displayed on the Regatta Secretary's Notice Board and/or the Bridge Boat Notice Board.
3.5 No race shall start after 15:00 on Sunday 10 August 2003.

4 ADVERTISING :
4.1 The regatta will be classified, in terms of the RRS Section II, Appendix 1, as a Category "A" event.
4.2 Notwithstanding any other rule, the Race Committee reserves the right to require the removal from display of any advertising which, in its opinion, is not in good taste.

5 ENTRIES:
5.1 Entries will be accepted up to an hour before the warning signal of the first race.
Faxed and E mailed entries will be accepted with notice of deposit.
5.2 The discounted entry fee will be R100.00 per yacht and the standard entry fee will be 150.00 after noon 6th August 2003
5.3 The entry fee must accompany the completed and signed entry form.

5.7 REFUNDS: Entry fees will be refunded should entrants be prevented from completing in the Championships provided an application, in writing, for such refund is received by the NSA within 14 days of the first day of the regatta. A 20% administration fee will be deducted from the entry fee before such refunds are made. Should the regatta not be completed due to there being no wind, the regatta may be re-sailed without penalty.


6 MEASUREMENT:

6.1 Each yacht shall be in possession of a valid measurement or registration certificate, which shall be presented at registration.
6.2 All yachts sailing in the Championships shall be made available for, and pass, random inspections or measurement checks which may take place between first day of event and last day of event, under the direction of the Class Representatives.

7 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS:
Sailing Instructions will be available at the regatta secretary's office one hour prior to the start of the first race.

8 COURSES:
The courses to be sailed will be set out in the Sailing Instructions.

9 SCORING:
9.1 The Low-Point Scoring System of Appendix A will apply
9.2 Races
9.2.1 The Championship shall consist of a maximum of 7 races
9.2.2 4 races are required to be completed to constitute a series.
9.2.3 When only 4 races have been completed, a boat's series score will be the total of her race scores.
9.2.4 When races from 5 to 6 have been completed, a boat's series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.
9.2.5 When 7 or more races have been completed, a boat's series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her two worst scores.

10 PRIZES AND TROPHIES:
10.1 NSA Medals will be presented to the crews of the first 3 yachts if there are 10 or more finishers in any three races.
10.2 Prizes and other trophies may be awarded at the sole discretion of the relevant Class Association.
10.3 Regional colours may be awarded on a points system as per the NSA Bye-laws
10.4 Where a medal winning crew member has been changed during the regatta, the medal will be awarded to that crew member who has sailed in most races.

11 LIABILITY:
The attention of all competitors is drawn to the fact that participation in this Regatta is entirely at their own risk. No responsibility for damage, injury or loss arising from participation in this regatta will rest with the Organising and National Authorities, Organising Committee, the Class Associations, the host Club, or any person or agent of these bodies.

12 FACILITIES:
12.1 The Club can provide parking facilities during the regatta
12.2 Breakfast, lunch and supper (braai packs), plus salads and rolls will be available. When registering please give indication of numbers requiring meals

13 GENERAL INFORMATION
Prize giving will take place after the last race on Sunday Tea and coffee will be available at no charge until the start of the first race each day
