2003 NORTHVAAL LASER MASTER CHAMPIONSHIPS
NOTICE OF REGATTA

REGISTRATION TIME : from 9.00am
SKIPPER'S BRIEFING : 10.30 am
1 RULES : The Championships shall be sailed under the 2001/2004 International Sailing Federation (ISAF) Yacht Racing Rules the rules of the Class Association concerned, except where specifically amended by the Sailing Instructions. The Notice of Regatta and course Card will form part of the Sailing Instructions.
2 ELIGIBILITY
2.1 Every helmsman and crew of a yacht entered in the regatta, shall be a member in good standing of a Yacht Club affiliated to South African Sailing
2.2 Helmsman and crew will be required to show valid Club membership cards at registration
2.3 The helmsman of a yacht entered in the regatta shall be a member in good standing of the appropriate Class Association. The crew shall be a member in good standing of the appropriate Class Association if required by the Class Rules
2.4 Each yacht entered shall have a valid class measurement or registration certificate issued or recognised by South African Sailing
2.5 All fees (membership and entry) shall be paid before the scheduled starting time of the first race. Where races are sailed without payment of said fees, the results shall be disregarded
3 PROGRAMME : The Championship shall consist of a maximum of 12 races. A minimum of 4 races must be sailed. If more than 4 races are sailed there will be one discard. If more than 8 races are sailed there will be 2 discards.
The starting time of the first race will be as shown above. The starting times of subsequent races will be displayed on the Regatta Secretary's Notice Board/ and or the Bridge Boat Notice Board.
The warning signal for the last race shall not be later than 15:00 on Sunday 24th August 2003.
4 ENTRIES : The entry fee will be R150.00 .The entry fee will be discounted to R100.00 for entries received by Wednesday 20th August 2003. Additional copies are available from the NSA office. Entries should be posted to :

Faxed entries will be accepted without payment, but it is up to the Class Representative to see that these entries are honoured and payment received.
Entry fees may also be deposited into the NSA Banking Account.

Entries will also be taken at the event up till half an hour before the start of the first race.
5 REFUNDS : Entry fees will be refunded, should entrants be prevented from competing in the Championships provided and application, in writing, for such refund is received by the NSA within 14 days of the first day of the regatta. A 10% administration fee will be deducted from the entry fee before refunds are made.
6 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS : Sailing Instructions and Course Cards will be available at the Regatta Secretary's office one hour prior to the start of the first race.
7 AGE CATEGORY : On the first day of the Regatta the age limit for the following categories shall be : Apprentice Master 35 - 44: Master 45 -54: Grandmaster 55 - 64; and Great Grandmaster 65 and over.
8 MEASUREMENTS : Class Association representatives may carry out boat checks during the regatta.
9 PENALTY : The penalty in terms of Rule 44.1 shall apply
10 SCORING : The Low Point Scoring System Appendix A of the Racing Rules shall apply except that the number of races shall be as stated in this notice. Radial rigs may be used but will be scored as full rigs. Rigs may not be changed during the regatta.
11 PRIZES AND TROPHIES : NSA Medals will be presented to the skippers
of the first 3 yachts if there are 10 or more starters in any three (3) races. Any other prizes and trophies may be presented as provided by and at the discretion of the Class Association.
12 COLOURS : Regional Colours may be awarded on a points system as per the NSA Bye-Laws
13 FACILITIES : Lunches and dinner will be catered. Contestants must stay for OBs after the last race on Saturday. At TCC caravans can be hired for R40 per night. Camping free.
14 LIABILITY : The attention of all skippers is drawn to the fact that participation in the Regatta is entirely at their own risk and no responsibility for damages or injury resulting therefrom will rest with the Organising Authority, the Class Association, the host Club or any person connected with the running of the Regatta.
