2003 NORTHVAAL KEELBOAT PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
NOTICE OF REGATTA

SKIPPERS BRIEFING: 10:00 on 8th August 2003 at DAC
RACE TIMES: THE FIRST WARNING SIGNAL of the first race on the 8th August 2003 will be 12:25. On Saturday, 9th August 09:55 and on Sunday 10th August at 09:25.
RULES: The Regatta will be sailed under the 2001/2004 ISAF Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the NKA Rules and the rules of the Class Associations unless specifically amended by the sailing instructions.Every owner, skipper and each crew member of each yacht entered shall be members in good standing of a SAS affiliated club and of their Class Association.Scrutineering will be at the discretion of the Scrutineering Officer.
ADVERTISING: The regatta will be classified, in terms of the RRS, as a Category "C" event, Regulation 20.
PROGRAMME:REGISTRATION: The Regatta shall consist of a maximum of 10 races.There must be a minimum of four races for the regatta.If only four races are sailed all shall count. If five or more races are sailed, there will be one discard. If eight or more races are sailed, there will be two discards. An "L" flag flown on the committee boat after the finish of a race will indicate another race will follow shortlyWill be at 08:25 at DAC on 8th August 2003
SCORING: The Low Point scoring system as provided in the RRS Appendix A4 will apply.
SAILING INSTRUCTIONS Sailing Instructions will be available at the Registration Office
ENTRIES: A minimum of 5 class entries must be received before midday 1st August 2003 in order for the class to qualify. No yacht shall be allowed to compete if not part of a registered class.Entry fee will be R150.00 (up to August 1st 2003). The entry fee must accompany the completed and signed entry form. Entries should be posted to: The Regatta Secretary, NSA, P.O. Box 4209. Germiston South, 1411.Entry fees may also be deposited into the NKA Banking Account:Account: ABSA Bank, GermistonAccount number: 404-300-8801(Entry form and deposit slip to be faxed to the Regatta Secretary - (011) 827-0853Entries will be accepted until 10am, on the 8th August, provided the class has qualified by the 1st August. Late entry fee (those after 8th August 2003) will be R220.00.
REFUNDS: Entry fees will be refunded should entrants be prevented from competing in the Championships provided an application, in writing, for such refund is received by the Regatta Secretary within 21 days of the first day of the Regatta less administration fee of 30%
PRIZES & TROPHIES: Prize giving will be held on Sunday 10th August 2003 at approximately 15:00 at Deneysville Aquatic ClubMedals will be presented to the Skipper and Crew on the following basis: a) Gold medal only - awarded when there are between 5 & 6 finishers in any two racesb) Gold and silver medals only - awarded when there are between 7 & 9 finishers in any two races.c) Gold, silver & bronze medals - awarded when there are 10 or more finishers in any two races(Additional prizes and trophies may be presented as provided by and at the discretion of the Class Associations).
FACILITIES: Camping sites will be available free. Full catering available.
TRAVEL ASSISTANCE: Financial assistance will be provided to entrants who are required to transport their boat from their home Club to Deneysville, provided the one way trip is greater than 150km's. Financial assistance must be claimed with the entry form only if boat is trailed and if sufficient funds are available.
LIABILITY: The attention of all competitors is drawn to the fact that participation in the contest is entirely at their own risk and no responsibility for damage or injury resulting therefrom will rest with the Organising Authority, the Class Associations, the Host Club or any persons connected with the running of the Regatta.
