The big event of the weekend was the Laser Masters Regatta which took place down at Island Sailing Club. Some 30 odd boats arrived at ISC for what I am told was an exceptionally well organized regatta.
Each competitor received a bag full of goodies from the various sponsors when they registered on Saturday. The fleet then set out onto the bay for two races sailed in quite light winds on Saturday afternoon. The excellent organization went as far as serving lunch and necessary liquid refreshments to the sailors between races out on the sandbank.
With two races sailed on Saturday the fleet retired to the ISC pub where there was even more in the way of liquid refreshment and I have even had a report of a noxious greenish liquid served from a steel pot! Sunday's westerly meant that one or two sailors may have had some serious regrets over the green stuff but these were soon forgotten as the fleet battled the strong winds. Several sailors lost the battle and retired to the sandbanks for a rest before taking on the hard beat up the channel to ISC. Those who stayed out had a furious race in the heavy conditions.
At this stage I don't have the official results but my source of information on the regatta, Graham Rose, suspects that the winner were as follows. He also tells me that the winners will be easy to identify as they are all sporting trendy new Jeep sunglasses!
