Friday afternoon's session in the L26 Match Racing Series produced the most competitive encounter of the series to date.

The pre-start manoeuvres between Harry Ellens on Parental Guidance and Alec Lanham-Love on Galactica was by far the most intense and competitive we have seen so far. Both skippers were aggressive in asserting their rights and fought not just for the advantage but also to inflict penalties on the other boat every step of the way.

Entering from the starboard side Galactica dominated the pre-start in race on inflicting a penalty on Parental Guidance and squeezing her out at the pin end as the race started. Vastly superior boat speed saw Parental Guidance get past Galactica on the first downwind leg and maintain a comfortable lead from there on.

In race two Galactica had to work hard to counter the starboard tack advantage held by Parental Guidance. A long run away from the start line and a few good moves saw Galactica get the upper hand, which they held to the line with and started cleanly at the pin end with Parental Guidance behind. Once again though boat speed was the deciding factor and despite a furious tacking duel up the final beat, which saw the gap close considerably, Parental Guidance was able to hold on for a two nil win.

Lots of fun both for the sailors and the spectators! The racing was once again well videoed by Chris Rudham and the replay enjoyed in the pub by everyone afterwards.
