There was some Junior Sailing at HMYC this weekend with the following report from Rob Walker. For more information on the Junior Program at HMYC Rob can be contacted on 083 392 8062 or at rswalker@mweb.co.za.

Sunday saw the HMYC Junior Optimist sailors joined by Aaron Larkens and CJ Despy from PYC, Durban. The mornings training session was dogged by light wind but good practice in roll tacking and kiting was put in by the youngsters. In the afternoon the wind switched to over the dam wall and three races were held. Visitor Aaron Larkens dominated throughout despite an over the line start in the first race. Local sailor Sam Hancock held the HMYC end up sailing consistently to take second overall. Byron Gray, however, did well to keep him on his toes to finish third. CJ Despy was sailing for the second time in his new boat and this was his first racing series.

2nd Sam Hancock
3rd Byron Gray

Handicap
