NOTICE OF REGATTA

CHELMSFORD LONGHAUL

Entries are invited for the 1st Leg of the NNYU interclub challenge to be held on 4th and 5th October 2003.

Organizing Authority
The C.B.C (Chelmsford Boating Club) race committee under the auspices of N.N.Y.U. (Northern Natal Yacht Union).

Rules
The regatta will be governed by the 2001/2004 racing rules of sailing (R.R.S.), the S.A.S. (South African Sailing) prescriptions and appendices thereto and the various applicable class rules.

Any alteration to the sailing instructions will be posted in writing on the regatta notice board after the sounding of the appropriate sound signal.

The event is open to all classes.

Entries
The regatta fee is R70.00 payable to C.B.C.
Entries shall be submitted on the official entry form obtainable from C.B.C.

Program
Racing will not start before 11:00 AM on the 4th October 2003.
No racing will start after 2:30 PM on the 5th October 2003.

Registration
Registration will at C.B.C. on 4th October 2003. Registration will be from 8.00 AM to 10.00 AM.

Sailing area and courses
The regatta will be sailed at Chelmsford Dam on a course as set by the race committee.

Scoring
The low points scoring system R.R.S. Appendix A will apply.
If five or more races are completed, a yachts worst result will be discarded.
There will be no further discards.

Prizes
Individual prizes will also be awarded at prize giving. Only those attending prize giving will receive a prize. I.E. should a prize not be collected it will be automatically awarded to the person next in line. (Thanks to our sponsor Orange Grove Dairies)

Liability
All competitors sail entirely at their own risk. Neither the organizing authority, the sponsor's, C.B.C., or any person in anyway concerned with the running of the events accepts any liability for damage or injury arising from or suffered during racing or at any time during the event.

Alternative penalties
R.R.S. 44.2 is amended to provide that multihull yachts shall do a 360-degree penalty.

General
Camping is available at C.B.C. from Friday night 3rd October 2003.
Bar will be open on Friday. Braai fire will be supplied if requested.
Meals will be available from Saturday lunch to Sunday lunch.
