NOTICE OF REGATTA
First fun regatta of 2003

NOTICE OF RACE

Entries are invited for the fun regatta to be held on 1st January 2003. We do suggest that you arrive the night before due to the early start time.

Organizing Authority
The A.F.Y.C. (Albert Falls Yacht Club) Social Committee.

Rules
The regatta will be governed by the 2001/2004 racing rules of sailing (R.R.S.), the S.A.S. (South African Sailing) prescriptions and appendices thereto and the various applicable class rules. Only if anyone can remember them.

Any alteration to the sailing instructions will be posted in writing on the regatta notice board after the sounding of the appropriate sound signal if the race officer is sober.

The event is open to all classes. Powerboats that enter will be required to switch off motors before the start of each race and will only be allowed to turn on their motors after completing the course. Paddles are allowed to be used by powerboats and canoes.

Entries
The regatta fee is R20.00 payable to A.F.Y.C.
Entries shall be submitted on the official entry form obtainable from A.F.Y.C.
Entry fee is per person and includes entry to the PARTY on the 31st.

Program
PARTY from dusk until you pass out.
Racing will not start before 6:00 am on 1st January 2003.
I.E. when race officer wakes up or is sober enough to stand.
No racing will start after 15:30 pm on the 1st January 2003.

Registration
Registration will at A.F.Y.C. on 31st December 2002 from 16h00 to 19h00 and on 1st January 2003 if anybody is still standing.

Sailing area and courses
The regatta will be sailed at Albert Falls Dam on either a leeward/windward or box course around A.F.Y.C. fixed marks. The marks are 210-liter drums painted white and all marks are clearly numbered with roman numerals, also in white.

Scoring
The low points scoring system R.R.S. Appendix A will apply. If anyone can find appendix A
If four or more races are completed, a yachts worst result will be discarded.
There will be no further discards.

Prizes
Prizes will be awarded.
Best PARTY animal.
Worst hangover.
Best on dance floor.
Worst on dance floor.
Person with least amount of clothes. (Males automatically disqualified)
Person who puts in most amount of spadework.
No prizes will be awarded to those who actually sail.

Liability
All competitors sail and PARTY entirely at their own risk. Neither the organizing authority, the sponsor's, A.F.Y.C. or any person in anyway concerned with the running of the events accepts any liability for damage or injury arising from or suffered during racing or at any time during the event.

Alternative penalties
R.R.S. 44.2 is amended to provide that multihull yachts shall do a 360-degree penalty. This also applies to the dance floor.

Mnsinsi regulations
All entrants are to comply with Mnsinsi regulations

General
Camping is available at A.F.Y.C. from 31st December 2002.
Camping fees are payable at Mnsinsi reception.
Bar will be open from 31st December 2002 at 12 noon, until 6 PM on the 1st.
Meals will be available from "The Skoff Box".
Please supply numbers for catering.

In other words were having a New Years party at AFYC and you're welcome to attend. If we're sober enough the next day we will race.
