February 2006
On 6 February 2006 a crew member on the tanker MV 'Algarve' spotted what appeared to be the hull of an upturned yacht approximately 500 nautical miles off Port Shepston. Closer investigation revealed that the hull was that of the Fast 42 'Moquini' which had gone missing some 5 months earlier during the Mauritius to Durban Race. Her keel was missing. 'Moquini' was subsequently righted, pumped dry and towed to Durban by a salvage team where an investigation into the loss of her keel is to be carried out.
