NOTICE OF REGATTA
3 STAR CHALLENGE
Incorporating Leg 2 of the NNYU Inter Club Challenge
Incorporating Leg 3 of the KZN Open Cat Champs

NOTICE OF RACE
Entries are invited for the 3 STAR CHALLENGE to be held on 25TH & 26TH of October 2003.

Organizing Authority
The A.F.Y.C. (Albert Falls Yacht Club) race committee under the auspices of N.N.Y.U. (Northern Natal Yacht Union).

Rules
The regatta will be governed by the 2001/2004 racing rules of sailing (R.R.S.), the S.A.S. (South African Sailing) prescriptions and appendices thereto and the various applicable class rules.

Any alteration to the sailing instructions will be posted in writing on the regatta notice board after the sounding of the appropriate sound signal.

The event is open to all classes.

Entries
The regatta fee is R70.00 payable to A.F.Y.C.
Entries shall be submitted on the official entry form obtainable from A.F.Y.C.

Program
Racing will not start before 11H00 on 25th October 2003.
No racing will start after 15H30 on the 26th October 2003.

Registration
Registration will at A.F.Y.C. on 24th October 2003 from 16h00 to 19h00 and 25th October from 8h00 to 11h00.

Sailing area and courses
The regatta will be sailed at Albert Falls Dam on either a leeward/windward or box course around A.F.Y.C. fixed marks.

Scoring
The low points scoring system R.R.S. Appendix A will apply.
If four or more races are completed, a yachts worst result will be discarded.
There will be no further discards.

Prizes
Prizes will be awarded to the first ten places.
A prize will also be award for last place.
Individual prizes may also be awarded at prize giving. Only those attending prize giving will be eligible for prizes. I.E. should a prize not be collected it will be automatically awarded to the person next in line. (Thanks to our sponsor Orange Grove Dairies)

Liability
All competitors sail entirely at their own risk. Neither the organizing authority, the sponsor's, A.F.Y.C. or any person in anyway concerned with the running of the events accepts any liability for damage or injury arising from or suffered during racing or at any time during the event.

Alternative penalties
R.R.S. 44.2 is amended to provide that multihull yachts shall do a 360-degree penalty.

Msinsi regulations
All entrants are to comply with Msinsi regulations

General
Camping is available at A.F.Y.C. from Friday night.
On Friday night gate closes at 10.00 PM.
Camping fees are payable at Msinsi reception.
Bar will be open on Friday. Potjie will be supplied free of charge on Friday night.
Meals will be available from Saturday breakfast to Sunday lunch.
Please supply numbers for catering.
